Rich, complex and unique. Abbey style ales are transcendent, and ours stands proudly in the ranks. Aged in brandy barrels, Holy Sheet is a mahogany ale brewed with Belgian Abbey yeast, candi sucre, and unique crystal malts. Rounded, spicy caramel flavors mixed with vinous notes and oak overtones, this ale pairs well with quiet contemplation…

Pours out very dark brown with a thick tan head. The aroma is of oak and brandy. The mouthfeel is smooth but not very thick. The taste is slightly sweet and you can certainly taste the brandy.

Curious how barreling a dubbel makes it a bsa (instead of a dubbel...that just happens to be barreled). Anywho. Never had the base. Apparently it'd beeen thorugh some tougher times, but this barreled beer had qualities of both a good dubbel (bubble gum, clove, bready yeastiness, some sugary sweetness (but not too much)) and excellent use of the barrel. Enough for the brandy to shine without overpowering the beer. Super smooth, very much enjoyed, and a bit of a pleasant surprise. Will actually be one of my better scored dubbels...if it weren't a BSA :)

Smooth vinous version of Holy Sheet, this beer sure has come along way since it's beginning. Brandy barrel aging adds a wonderful complimenting component to this malty, fruity Belgian Strong. Mottled brown body with an amber tint. Exceptional mouthfeel and a nice medley of dark fruits, Belgian yeast, earthy sugar, and red wine. Woody with a vanilla goodness.
