Our brewer's version the India Pale Ale style of beer, it is the overall most popular of our 5 flagship ales at the Harmon. It is also the first beer brewed on the original equipment in august 1997. The recipe has evolved throughout the years, but has remained the same since 2006. The Point Defiance IPA uses Columbus and Centennial hops for bitterness and flavor, plus ten pounds of Amarillo hops to dry hop. Four types of malted barleys make up the grain bill. This is the brewer's "favorite child". 6.1% ABV and 70 IBUs.

From Haagen (Burlington, WA) in a bomber. Pours a cloudy orange body under almost no head. Nose featured hops underpinned by pine needles. Flavour had the hop/malt/pine needle trifecta, and the pine needles again at the finish. Decent mouthfeel. Not remarkable but nice to drink.

no actually- i'm english .. . Poured out a gold copper, medium foam .. . mostly dried leaves and tree sap .. . clean mouth, and enjoyable .. . No no no, I'm going to leave them alone and not actually witness them dying, I'm just gonna assume it all went to plan. What?

Sampled on 12-29-09 in Tacoma. At first nose, this one really impressed... the grapefruity floral notes were at the threshold of phenomenal. It appeared very orange in color to me... more orange than usual or typical, but not nasty or hateful. The flavor, while solid, didn't quite live up to the aroma. Very balanced. I'd do it again and my only regret was that I had precious little time in the NW and was consumed with the Harmon ESB that night.

Pours with a golden-orange body topped by a thick head with little lacing. It’s slightly sweet with strong tea notes, nice grapefruit notes and a strong bitterness in the finish. Medium bodied, dry and highly carbonated.

This IPA pours a orange gold color from a 22 oz bottle. Large sized white foamy head. Aroma is citrusy and floral hops with a touch of earth and fruit. A medium to full bodied IPA> Malts are fruity, caramel and fruity. Hops are grapefruity, piney and earthy. Nice mixture of malt and hops. Sweet to start, with a nice hop bitterness at the finish. Nice beer. Smooth taste. Not your typical in your face Pac NW IPA. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and sweet. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.
