Thin body and prickly, with an odd but not entirely bad melange of sweet flavors. Fruity, caramel, just another odd duck. A little more in the way of hops than the Dubbel or triple but still not my thing.

It pours a dark brown with some hints of red and a thick and "root-beer float" light-tan head and somewhat spotty yet copious lacing. An aroma of caramel malts, hops, raisins, dates, and dark fruits, orange and citrus notes, light molasses, dark bread and yeast, and a mix of spices. The mouthfeel is soda-like: bubbly yet full. Flavors of roasted malts, hops, orange and citrus notes, raisins and dates, molasses, light sarsparilla, dark bread, and spices. Excellent!

i am scared 8/22/09.. very thin, but has a bit of strangeness ..the pool is luke!.. easy to put down but don't try to taste it .. a fudge butt .. like an extremely watered down chimay red that got dumpstered.. probably the best Green's, houston not miami..

Here I have a murky ruddy-brown colored ale. Big off white head. Frothy. Holds up well enough, though not setting any record times. The lumps of froth on the beer and soapy film on the sides of the glass are impressive enough. The aroma is fruity and sweet. The body is robust. The taste is as in the aroma, fruity. Singular, I get apples. It was passable but not memorable. Not something I’d come close to saying, “wow”

Bottle: Poured a deep amber and slightly hazy ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of dry fruits such as figs and raisins, some sweet malt but alcohol ester. Taste is also dominated by some dry fruits characteristics and some sweet malt but is just too boozy at the end of the day. Body is somewhat too thin for the style with good carbonation too much alcohol was apparent.

Aroma is weak but does have a tasty malt component and a hint of brandy. It pours a dark brownish amber with a thick but not persistent head. Flavor is more like cider than beer, mainly apply and rather on the thin side. Texture is fairly smooth and a little jazzy. I guess ya gotsta have barley or wheat to make a truly flavorsome beer. Still, they get an A for effort.

As far as ambers go, this one is a complete failure. As far as gluten free beers go this would be what one would expect. I'll review based off of normal ambers as I've only had a couple of gluten free brews but never an amber.
The beer is a dark hazy amber with a decent thick light tan crown that makes nice ropy lacing and looks pretty good in my glass. The aroma, however does not impress...actually it's quite vile - rotting meat, liquid at the bottom your garbage can, I don't know what else to say aside from that there may be a hint of fruit but other than that this is just an abomination. Sometimes the fruit aroma comes out more along with a slight spice. In the background of the flavour is a subtle hint that this has an amber quality, but that is hard to find. The rest of the taste revolves around a berry flavour which is much much better when quite warm. When cold, this beer is terrible. Some spice is there along with some other stuff (must be the millet, rice, buckwheat and sorghum blend). Very sharp and more tart than sour. Some wood and an odd bitterness. No hint of the 8.5% that the sticker on the bottle claims....probally a mislabel as I would agree more with 6% in this sucker. As bad as I've said this is, it is drinkable. Medium bodied. Dry finish and a very lengthy bitter aftertaste. At this point it is questionable if I bother to finish off the bottle.

Bottled. Hazy ruby red colour, small white head. Aroma is mild red/dark berries with some slight cereals anbd grassyness. Flavour is quite exactly the same. Some fruity sweeetness in aftertaste.
