"Elixir of the Giants." Ducassis is the first top fermented beer to be made with real blackcurrant berries. It is the result of a partnership with two craftsmen who specialise in blackcurrant products (Nuits Saint-Georges, France). Fruited but with no added sweetening, Ducassis will surprise you. Ducassis gained the "Pionnier" (pioneer) award at the Salon Horeca food fair at Gent in November 2003. This project was carried out in strict collaboration the Jeune Chambre Economique (Junior Chamber of Commerce) d'Ath twinned with its counterpart at Nuits Saint Georges.

Bottled. Deep reddish brown colour with small head. Aroma is very much black currants and nothing else. Flavour is black currant, some notes of yeast and grass. Aftertaste is mainly sweet blackcurrant as well as some mild notes of yeast. Not that exciting.

pinkish brown color, some lacing. Aroma is fragrant and flowery, nice sweet currants, like lilac, berries, purple grape...... A spritzy feel and the taste still seems watery in the finish, which gave it a seltzer likeness.... Says there is 'no added sweetening' and it has a fresh and natural taste.... I hoped for more sweetness/ richness following that nice aroma.... Neither sweet nor sour, funky or spunky, its borderline bland. Still quality beer, i'd drink it all day if it were cheap.

Poured a reddish brown color with a medium sized, light pink head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of sweet currants, berries, grains, and yeast. Taste of sweet berries and just a touch of acidity. Not foul, but it reminded me of fruit juice, it could use more of everything.

cloudy dark red-brown colour, creamy pinky head, dry blackcurrant aroma, oily and medium-bodied, bitter/sour, very dry finish of blackcurrant with more sourish notes - an interesting and not easy fruit beer
