This beer is just right when you want something with a little bite but not harsh. No left over taste in your mouth after drinking it either. A really great American brewed beer.

2 24oz cans for $3 on the Las Vegas Strip. Picked up a Genesee Beer and Cream Ale. The plain white can is about as simple as it comes. And the packaging mirrors the contents inside--bland and boring. Least bad when very cold.

pours crystal clear pale yellow color with a foamy white head that quickly fades. The aroma consists of corn and a touch of grass. Pretty faint overall. The taste is nearly flavorless, corn comes through in the finish, hops provide no flavor, just enough bitterness so you know you're drinking beer. The mouthfeel is very light bodied.

Pours a light yellow color. Smell is of corn and grains. Taste is light, mild, some corn and grains. Feels watery in the mouth and overall there is not much going for this beer.

12 oz bottle -
Now that BevMo is carrying this beer (been stocking it now for at least 3-6 months) I figured...why the hell not. I’ve always heard about this beer, but it was never distributed out here unti now. The beer pours out a light yellow body, crystal clear with a white pillowy head (quickly melted). Aroma is mostly sweet creamed corn and light grass. Flavor is pretty bad, some light corn, dirty penny, finishes with a kind of dirty dishwayter/soapy aftertaste. Hopefully the cream ale is a little better. -

possibly nostalgia is causing me to rate this bottle of beer, but many were put down playing softball or baseball in upstate NY, and it wasn't too bad in the summer heat. not really a "good" beer, but i wasn't as much of a snob then as i am now.

This is the beer I grew up on in upstate NY. Recently picked up a 12 pack during a visit. It hasn't changed over the years. Pours a pale golden color. Some graininess in the taste with malt overtone. Nice carbonation level. Good hop balance. Overall a decent beer. Genesee Beer has had some great slogans - "a little more exciting, "naturally more refreshing", "our one brewery makes it best" and my favorite - "Cold Aged!" I recall when Genesee started losing some market share in the 80's the management not being worried because they had "loyal drinkers" who would continue to support the brewery. They were right about that - they did have loyal drinkers, just not enough of them. I have a 1978 Genesee Beer can commorating 3 Million bbls. High Falls does about 750K bbls now. At least they survived, more than can be said about most big brewers from back in the day.

Pours a pure golden color, silked-foamy white head and thick lace. Aroma of barley malts, hops, lime/citrus, light mint, and mild spices. The mouthfeel is smooth, although thin and watery. Flavors of malts, light hops, citrus, and light spice. Average.

The lager companion to the cream ale. Unfortunately, no where near as good as its counterpart. The Genny Lager is pale gold, white head, sick malty aroma with a little hops, and a weak grainy malt taste.
