About:
Been a beer enthusiast since the 70's. I collect all sorts of breweriana and have a complete home brewing set up including multiple kegs. I've seen fads come and go. I like everything from the worst ghetto malts to the finest IPA's and stouts and everything in between.
I've been slacking, but my goal is to try and review one new beer a week (and maybe more) as well as catch up with some I drink regularly anyway.

With all due respect to previous reviewers, you get what you pay for and Axe Head delivers exactly what something in this class should - a ton of alcohol and a low price. It actually pours out a decent enough straw color (if you dare to pour it in a glass). 40s should be drank directly from the bottle anyway. The taste is actually quite subdued when cold (the only way to drink something like this). Granted, there is no evidence of hops and adjuncts dominate the palate, but by the time you've drank half the 40 you won't care anyway. No need to over analyze this one - it is what it is.

This is a fairly "standard" West Coast IPA. Pours out a hazy, orangish color with very good head retention. Strong citrus hopnote however there is enough malt flavor that there is good balance. The bottle says "unfiltered" and you better believe it as there were a couple large chunks at the bottle that reminded me of a homebrew. Certainly worth a try.

This is just a fine ale. Poured out a nice light copper color with a thick lasting head and nice lacing. Aroma has just a hint of pine. Good hopnote that balanced the rich malt flavors. Definitely worth trying.

Had a couple at a neighbors "Cinco de Mayo" party. Poured out a yellowish color with a weak head. Aroma was dominated by corn. Very little hopnote at all. Overall a typical cheap Mexican beer not worth the money.

Poured a nice golden yellow with a decent enough thick head. Decent head retention and some lacing. Aroma is malt/corn with little hop note. Taste is very neutral. Very refreshing however - I wish I had drank it in Africa instead of after hanging drywall all day in KY. Either way it's worth a try.
