This classic beer style was inspired by centuries of Celtic brewing history. Specialty roasted malts such as crystal and carastan dominate "Irish Red Ale" resulting in a ruby red colour and smooth malty taste.

Bottle: Poured a light red/amber color ale with a medium foamy head with average retention and not much lacing. Aroma of dry caramel malt with light cereal notes and some residual sugar. Taste is also dominated by dry caramel malt with light sweet notes and no discernible hops. Body is a bit light with OK carbonation. Decent but a bit too bland to be truly interesting even as a session beer.

Bottle, label as above, received via trade. Pours a dark reddish brown, one inch of off-white head. Decent retention, minimal lace. Smells of roasted caramel malt, and a bit of yeast. Sweet malty taste, a bit of caramel, then some bitter hops. Mouthfeel is smooth, low carbonation. Very drinkable. Another good one from Garrison.

Much better then the Tall Ship, A very solid Irish Red. Its very mild but very smooth for a irish ale and probably modified for a Canadian palette. Very smooth.

poured a bright amber-red into the pint glass 2 finger sticky tan cap lasts a bit then goes to a glass lacing ring. Subtle aromas of succulent fruits/berries and some mustiness over a cereal mash. Sweet toasty caramel grains up front is then balanced with a rush of cedar and citrus tastes from the hopping...finishes wet and slightly dry with a great biscuit after taste. Far better than the Garrison Brown or Amber ales...still one dimensional but an all malt ale with subtle falvor and good drinkability.

Thanks to Plug for bringing this one back from Nova Scotia. Pours a dark amber colour with a tanned big fluffy head. Retention is great, so is lacing. Carbonation is very light. Good strong nose that is quite bitter, with notes of chocolat and coffee. Kind of watery mouthfeel with slight stickiness. The mouth is smoother than the aroma. Caramel and roasted malts with some good hoppiness, as Cottrell was throwing some of those quick rhymes. Also, mild nutty taste with some apple hints. A very interesting and nice amber ale, worth trying.
