Saison’s French translation is Season. The style originated in Wallonia, a French speaking part of Belgium. The farmer’s would make a batch of Saison for their farmhands. The farmhands needed this beer for refreshment and hydration since the water was less than desirable. Every farmer’s version was different so Saison’s can be any color or use any combination of malt or hops. Front Street’s version is more traditional since it is a pale colored beer and weighs in around 5.3%. English and Czech hops were used to give this beer a bit of bite. The yeast strain employed gives this ale some fruit flavors with a tart finish.
