A 5 day old growler brought to Montreal. Once opened, a very alcoholic aroma popped out. A black pour, with a brownish tint to the edges. Lots of alcohol in the aroma along with some roasted malt and vanilla. Flavour is a tad on the sweet side (vanilla?) with some alcohol in the mix.

Served in a snifter and the aroma was all alcohol. No head and looked like thinned out oil. Tasted of chocolate, strong roasted coffee and alcohol. Very smooth and silky.

Pours an opaque red/black with no head. Heavy aroma of alcohol with a hint of chocolate. Flavor is also strong on alcohol with chocolate and some flavor of licorice. Not bad, but I've had better impy stouts.

From Growler.. Poured black as night with a few bubbles of carbonation creeping up through the thickness a few seconds after the pour. Aroma was heavy on the bourbon with vanilla, chocolate and coffee. Flavor followed suit with bourbon standing out most and a heavy vanilla flavor with a bit of chocolate and roasted malts. Heavy, thick motor oil consistency.. Great Imperial Stout!..

I was all built up for this one, and it was a major let down. Serve in a 6 ounce snifter. Onyx black with what looked like soap bubbles on top. Alcohol dominates. No way around that. Chocolate, roast, wood, toffee. Nice full body with an oily slickness. Surprisingly easy drinking. I had two servings. At $3.50 a glass, I thought that was a good deal. I have a feeling that this batch is on the down slope. I’ll be on the lookout for a fresher batch.

This stout poured heavier than a beeboo baby rat bug. I swear I could hardly keep the mug raised because of such epic proportions. As the night followed and the mugs emptied, I was in helpless aid of my good friend Pongo. He would later tell me in great dismay and blemish that his good friend Ming was a psycho. What a tragic story...

At the brewpub. This may be an unfair rating, because it tasted like black licorice and I hate black licorice. Moat people seem to enjoy this, and it did have quite a kick, but the I couldn’t get over the licorice flavor.

GABF2004... Poured opaque black with a small tan head and no lacing on the glass. Aroma of bourbon, chocolate, vanilla, and roast. Strong bourbon notes in the taste that also included roast and chocolate. I felt the mouthfeel could have been fuller, but regardless this is still a very good beer!

This brew pours with a black, black body topped by a thin brown head with a surprisingly good amount of lace left behind. Ummmm... Can we say "ALCOHOL"? That's about all I could smell. I think I can get drink just from smelling this beer. There are faint malty notes but for the most part it's just alcohol. The flavor is sweet, malty and full of vanilla as well as alcohol and a touch of smokiness. Some bitter notes are also observed. Full bodied, remarkably smooth and slightly warming.
