Z Lager is brewed with imported beechwood-smoked malt from Germany. It has one of the most exotic qualities in craft-brewing- a slight aromatic smoke flavor. Great with cheese or any food--but NOT over powering. TRY IT!

It pours a light and thin copper with a spotty light-tan head and some specks of lacing. The aroma is of caramel malts, light hops, bread and yeast, grassiness, and mild spices. The mouthfeel is smooth and slightly thin. Flavors of caramel malts. hops, bread and yeast, bitterness, and light spices. Good and mild.

Certainly not the best rauchbier I've ever tasted. Pours a clear copper colour with a large white head. Aroma is smoked wood, grainy malt, and gunk. The flavour is a bit on the sweet side for a rauchbier, although the smokiness is there in the flavour and the finish is bitter.

Pours a nice clear coppery amber with a decent, if not persistent, off-white head. Aroma is strong and malty with smoky, fruity and caramel hints. Mouth-filling flavor is malty and slightly fruity with a hint of caramel and a whisper of sweetness. Texture is very smooth and minimally tingly.

The aroma is of extreme smoked malt, sweetness, and smoked meat and is excellent and very roasty. The appearance is dark black but a very rich and clean burgundy when held to the light with a nice brown head on top that diminished as it sat in my sampler glass. The mouthfeel is medium-bodied, smooth, and complex. The flavor is very smokey and clean as well as smokey malts and beef. Overall, I have wanted this brew for a while and I was very satisfied with the offering; nice smoked porter here for sure, recommended.

Pours a clear amber with a medium head and little lacing. Good carbonation. Aromas of smoky sweet malts, hops, and a slight honey sweetness. Taste is dry with a smoky and malty base and a hops bitterness that is nicely balanced.

An amber colored beer with a hint of smoke and caramel in the aroma. The flavor is quite smokey with some smoked bacon and honey cured ham flavors showing through. Some caramel is also detectable. The palate is a little thin on this one. Overall a nice but simple smoked beer.

This smoked ale pours a medium dark amber color from a 12 oz bottle. Small sized white foamy head. Aroma is smoked bacon, caramel and sweet. A medium bodied smoked ale. Malts are caramel and sweet. Slightly smoked malts. Hops are floral and earthy. A bit smoky sweet baconish, but nowhere near Aecht Schlenkerla smoke assult. Nice balance. Good carbonation. It seems a little thin and a little sweet. Sort of like a smoked amber. Mouthfeel is slightly thin. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.

Beer pours copper color with big foamy head and little lacing. Strong aroma of sweet barbecue. I have a hard time distinguishing this from the smoked doppelbock. Really sweet barbecue smokiness dominates the flavor (again). A tad too sweet for everyday drinking. I'd almost call this a novelty beer it's so singularly dominated by smokiness.
