Wee wee (insert dirty French laugh here). Biere de Garde or "beer for keeping" is a traditional French farmhouse ale brewed in March for drinking during the spring and summer months. Like another great French tradition, surrender your taste buds to Garde Dog's toasted aroma and spicy, malty sweetness. Wee wee. Haw haw haw.

what's with the low scores? i thought this was a nice, light but flavorful farmhouse ale. a little sweet, fruit, spicy dry yeast, with a nice body.

A beer of the month club entry for Feb/Mar 2011. Pours slightly hazy cloudy with a short head that is short lived. Clean refreshing, sort of between a heavy lager and light ale. For the most part enjoyable but unremarkable, so enjoy if it is close by, but don't travel too far to get it.

Purchased on my trip to Nashville. Pours a cloudy beige-orange colour with a little white head that creates patchy lacing and stays on top of the brew. Aromas are yeasty, fruity (citrus, apples) and mildly earthy. Medium-heavy mouthfeel, but still refreshing and wet. Decent taste of fruits (apples again, some light pears) and mild malts. Less alcohol than other French Biere de Garde I have tried. An easy-drinking American version.

I'm not sure what's worse, flying dogs, flying monkeys, or flying pigs. The beer in question is certainly unfiltered as described on the carton. Hazy golden orange with a white head. The aroma is funky earthy hops and some fruity sweetness. The flavour is slightly spicy with fruit hints and a hoppy finish. Not the best Biere de Garde I've had.

A cloudy yellow-orange colored beer. The Flying Dogs were among my first introductions to craft brews. The head rising on this one is small and frothy white. The lacing that is shortly left behind isimpressive. The nose is sweet and musty malt-yeast. The body is light but creamy. There is a grassy hops note in the tasting. Really, a decent beer.

Bottled@White Horse Parsons Green. Hazy golden colour, small head. Aroma is fruits, hops, wood, grass as well as some earthyness. Flavour is much the same. Quite fruity hoppy for being a biere de garde.

Pours out in a clear dark golden colour with a low firm white foam. Mellow aroma of caramel, grass, caramel and honey. Medium to light-bodied with notes of caramel, nuts, straw, rubber and honey. Short finish of straw and caramel. Not close to a real Biere de Garde...

bought it @ LC,LA, drank over at Coops @ Rockhaven .. . light honey pot and light parallel universe tootie roll aromas .. . light musk and light old honey in the mouth .. pretty refrshing drink, could convert BMCers .. . pours a golden tan color .. . decent, drinkable, but a shadow of a real hands on biere de garde.. .

Golden color with a white head. The aroma contains corn, honey, and some spices. The flavor is rather sweet with candi sugar, citrus, and honey. The finish is slightly sweet. Overall this is pretty boring but not offensive

Golden colored, thin head and a grassy, malty aroma. Sweet malty flavor, spices, with some hop bitterness towards the finish. A touch dry. Full enough mouthfeel and refreshing. Not bad.
