This Belgian Style Strong Dark Ale is brewed with raisins and exotic sugars. The flavor speaks of raisins, Belgian yeast generated esters and an overall warming character from alcohol.

wow- the 3 reviews for this are all over tha map! I've had this (base) beer a few times as well as a couple barreled incarnations. I think it's a solid, not spectacular, entry into the BSA catergory. Definitely fruity and sweet, with alcohol, plums, spicy yeast and toffee shining through. A little rough in this form, but still really good, and lends itself to barreling well.

Aroma has a strong tone of brown sugar, plus hints of miso and malt. It pours a clear cola brown with a thick, fluffy beige head that leaves some respectable lacing. Rich flavor has tones of caramel, malt, horehound and apple plus just a touch of grass or herbs. Lively texture leaves behind a sweet caramel-apple finish. Concentrated Evil? This beer is GOOD!

Bottled@SBWF2010. Deep ambery brown colour with a mediumsized off-white head. Aroma is sweet malts, fruits, some spices, mild alcohol and quite berryish as well. Flavour is malts, yeast, some alcohol, a bit glueish as well as spicy. Quite alcoholic finish.

I had this a few weeks ago at the Portland Holiday Ale Fest. Brown beer without much foam. Belgian yeast aroma of raisins and pear. Full body. Strong alcohol and not as complex as I would have expected. Finishes very dry. Not one of the better ones I tried at the festival.
