apparently this starts out as a base beer that FiftyFifty sends out to various brewers to add/blend what they will. I had it at SacBrew and it was a 7% triple. Now a cloudy amber 11% belgian strong. phew! this one's huge. thick, full, sweet as hell...almost cloying, but i liked it enough after a sampler to get a pint above all their other brews. It was unique in it's sweetness-while you got the belgian yeast & candi sugar there was also a hint of rum. served way too cold so it was just getting right as my pint was just about gone.

Tasted on tap at the Pizza Port Strong Ale Festival 12/5/2008. This Belgian Strong ale poured a deep red amber color from the tap. Small to medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is raisins, brown sugar, caramel and sweet. A medium bodied BSA. The malts are fruity, raisins, spruce and spices. The hops are earthy and floral. Lots of spices. Hides the alcohol well. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet. Had this one back to back with the Flossmoor Station version, thought this one was a little smoother, spicier and less sweet.
