This satisfied my constant craving for a good/great smoked beer, and to be a pilsner base really allowed the smoke to dominate. It wasn't as smokey or complex as Aecht Schlenkerla, but...well...who is. Plenty smokey, some soft caramel notes on the palate with a clean, smokey finish. Very nice. -

Pours a hazy orange, more akin to an ipa than a pilsner. Also a little thinker in body than i'm used to for the style. But overall, the beer works. At first the aroma is a little sweet, then come the grassy hops and smoke. The smoke is more obvious in the flavor, which is actually quite balanced between the smoke, grass, and sweet malt. Nice brew.
