In the beginning, there was nothing. Then an impish brewer piled a ludicrous amount of hops inot a batch of beer. This zymurgical big bang is Epic Armageddon, an apocalyptic assault on your preconceptions and taste buds. It may be too huge for this fragile planet so enjoy this beer like it was the last one on Earth INGREDIENTS Malt - English Pale Ale, Carmalt Hops - US Cascade, US Centennial, US Columbus, US Simcoe Alc/Vol - 6.66% (the number of the yeast) IBU - 60

50cl bottle pours with a clear copper body that has gold hues and supports a dirty white head of foam. The aroma offers up floral hops, earthy lime, sweetened black pepper, some onion dankness and a mild amount of citrus flavored gummy bears. The taste starts off with a mix of bitter floral hops, malt sweetened tangelo and firm resiny pine hoppiness. A dash of thin black pepper rises up as the resiny bitter hops peak in intensity. It has some citrus hop juiciness that pokes through here and there and then it ends with lingering hop bitterness. Nice rich bold hoppy brew.

Golden yellow with white lacing foam head. Aroma is hoppy all over. Taste is nice bitter beer. Short bitter aftertaste. NOt the best IPA ever, but from NZ, so happy to add this to the list. (Velp 201309)

This was a pretty nice IPA, and I was suprised to see it was made in NZ. I originally thought this was something done by Mammoth Brewing Co. The aroma supports a really nice citrus hop array, which seems to help the hops get remolded into something peachy and quite fruity. I didn't get a lot of the usual caramel malt profile when CaraMalt is used. On the palate there's really a nice showing of citrusy/piney hops, light pineapple and more peaches. Fruity, hoppy, nice sweetness here. Could have used a little more oomph in the mouthfeel though. -

Grassy with touch of caramel. Zesty fruity hops that linger for a while then seemingly walk away. Good light copper body with a medium sized head and stringy lace. A bit too light on the palate, and could use some more bitterness for the IPA category.

Aroma is VERY strong and VERY hoppy, smelling like fresh-cut pine wood, with a subtle undertone of grapefruit. It pours a clear straw yellow with a thick white head - not impressive, but if appearance is a beer's weakest point, big fat hairy deal. Er, big fat hoppy deal. ;) Flavor is, yes, quite hoppy, somewhat evergreen, yet only a little bitter, with a hint of sour citrus, mainly grapefruit plus a bit of orange. Lively texture is quite fizzy and leaves a lip-smacking hoppy tingle. "Armageddon" enthusiastic about beer from New Zealand, and look forward to trying more brewskis from Epic and other NZ breweries!

Bought in New Orleans at Steins Deli .. . Pours a deep yellow gold .. very good head, medium lacing .. . surely he's not talking about vh1?? .. . good friendly hop presence, light honey and sap .. . pretty good stuff but at $10 a 500ml bottle, no way good enough for a repeat- still happy to have tried it though .. . . featuring professor gas can!!!

Sampled on 8/6/2011. This IPA pours a medium orange gold color from a 50cl bottle. Medium sized white foamy head with good lacing and nice retention. The aroma is fruity, sweet,, hoppy and malty. A medium bodied IPA. The malts are fruity and sweet. The hops are herbal, citrusy and piney. Nice balance between hops and malts, its still a west coast style IPA but the malts are nice. Decent carbonation. Lots of hop lot of malts all very well balanced, different thing show up every time. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Pours out in a clear pale amber colour with a low firm lasting white foam. Big-time piney hop aroma with rich notes of resin, flowers, cat pee and grapefruit with sweetish notes of peaches and yellow plums in the background. Medium-bodied with biteer piney and resinous notes of wet grass, cat pee, peaches, nectarines and flowers. Gentle carbonation in a rock solid body. Really bitter finish of wet grass, resin, pine and grapefruit with airy hints of fresh peaches. Lovely IPA!
