Gourmet chocolate raspberry coffee is used in the brewing process to achieve this unique flavor and aroma. With a rich dark color this medium bodied stout finishes fairly dry with subtle hints of chocolate, coffee and raspberry flavors.

Bottled...it does pour dark but there's a distinct lack of head of any sort. Chocolate and raspberry notes are both obvious. Mouth is a little thin for me. Not so sure I'm digging the raspberry, it's just not working for me from a flavor profile perspective.

Tonight I went to the release of the 2008 run of DuClaw's Naked Fish. Having never had a chocolate raspberry stout, I had to head in to try it out. Add to that the fact it was on nitrous and that's an added bonus.
The beer was served at the right temperature (a little below room temperature) and sported a nice, one-thumb thick, dirty looking head. It looked very enticing. Upon sipping it, you are greeted by a very smooth, almost milk like, velvety brew that goes down easy. This left a nice cascade of lacing down the side of the pint glass.
For the aroma, there wasn't much doing. There was an extremely feint smell of raspberries in the nose, but not much in the way of chocolate. The lack of effervescence was a little disappointing and most likely lead to the lack of a chocolaty smell.
Tastewise, like with the aroma, you definitely taste the raspberries, but the chocolate was a little on the thin side. With that said, I wouldn't call the aroma or flavor much more than just average, if not slightly below. It was however a smooth drink and acted as a nice fire extinguisher for my buffalo chicken sandwich.
I'm curious to see what others think about this one. Lets hear it! -

On tap at Hanover/Arundel Mills brewpub. Great aroma of sugary raspberries. Oh so good. Definate chocolate notes in this one. One of the best chocolate stouts ever. Raspberries are a unique and quite pleasant touch to this one. Amazing.
