Poured an amber color with a small, off white head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of piney hops, quite spicy, light citrus fruits, some faint caramel malts, but with some funky yeast. Taste of citrus fruits, liht grapefruit, some more pine, yeast, but quite astringent, and light alcohol in the finish.

Pours with an orange-amber body topped by a medium thick head with lots of lacing. It’s full of piney hop notes...it’s like a christmas tree and a good pot combined with a slight malt note. Full bodied, smooth and warming.

Tasted at the 4th Annual Hop Rhizome Fest at The Bistro in Hayward. Incredible aroma of citric fruit and herbs. Appearance is a is orange thru and thru, very clear, small head. Mouthfeel was medium bodied but packs a wallop. Flavors were herbal and citric (excellently balanced), with a nicely played malt tune in the background. Wonderful, wonderful stuff.

Tasted on Firkin at the Bistro 4th Annual Hop Rhizome Festival. This Imperial India Pale Ale pours a slightly hazy medium orange color from a firkin. Small sized but tenacious white foamy head. Aroma is grapefruity, floral and “herbal”. A medium to full bodied Imperial IPA. Malts are fruity and sweet. Big bold hops, grapefruity and floral with some pine and earth at the finish. There is a strong herbal quality that reminds me of the 70s..Must be the 100% summit hops. Soft, but lively carbonation. Lots of hop bite, without a lot of bitterness. The floral and flavor qualities stand out more than the bitterness. Summit is an interesting hop. Nice smooth taste. Hides the alcohol well. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is bitter.
