Rich aroma is like fine roast coffee with just a hint of powdery unsweet chocolate. It pours a clear cola brown with a fine-bubbled pale tan head that sticks around for a bit. Mouth-filling flavor is mainly of quality coffee with an undertone of chocolate and hints of malt, caramel and nuts. Texture is fairly smooth and has a good tingle to it. A bock? Tastes more like a porter or stout than a bock to me - but whatever they call it, I call it delicious!

12oz bottle, old label .. . pours a deep brown caramel .. light foam .. . coffee grounds and pepper skin .. some heat, very out of the norm and out of place .. . usually like dark horse beers but this was pretty bad .. . . oh, hello..

Bottled (thanks Papsoe!). Amber colour, small beige head. Aroma is black old coffee as well as some mild sourness. Flavour is old black cold coffee along with toffee, mild toasted notes as well as some slight caramel. Pleasantly balanced.

A bit skeptic about a coffee infused Dopplebock, yet I love coffee stouts and am a huge fan of a well made bock. Perkulator may be my favorite Dark Horse brew to date. Medium bodied sturdy bock base with a very forward coffee aroma and flavor. A wonderful marriage creating a fantastic end result.

looks like a doppelbock. smells like a doppelbock...at first. pretty intense coffee aroma after a few minutes, which is the beers strong point. lokks nice, a little thin for the style, but the flavor is quite nice too. bready, carmel sweet and bitter coffee. nice breakfast brew.

Poured from a bottle to a very nice redish brown color. The flavor was nice and strong with vanilla, coffee and whiskey. The flavor was very sweet coffee malt. The flavor was simply clean crisp and wonderful. This is a very nicely done coffee flavored beer.

Pours a murky brown color with almost no head or lacing. Smells like fresh roasted coffee and roasted malt with a bit of spice. The coffee dominates the taste with a hint of caramel on the palette. Not being familiar with the style, the mouthfeel is a bit thin, but after drinking many stouts with coffee, I guess my expectations were a bit higher. A unique brew, which is what I usually expect from Dark Horse. I need to try this one again.

A murky brown color with a small beige head. The aroma contains some caramel, toffee, brown sugar, and chocolate. The flavor contains alot of caramel along with some toffee, chocolate, and brown sugar. The mouthfeel is rather syrupy with a sweet finish. Overall a pretty good beer.

Bottle courtesy of Plucier: Poured a deep copper color bock with a small foamy head with good retention and good lacing. Aroma of medium coffee notes with a lightly sweet caramel malt base. Taste is also a mix between a lightly sweet caramel malt base with some nice medium notes of dry coffee. Average body with some OK carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Not extremely complex but well done and interesting take on the doppelbock style.
