Farmhouse Ale - 6.6 ABV - 25 IBU Saison, French for season, was traditionally brewed during the harvest season for Belgian Farm workers. With the harvest season upon us, we bring to the table our Saison, teasing with hints of citrus and spices. Hops and malt are well-balanced and layered with just a touch of sourness.

16.9 oz bottle, bottled on 11/12/13. Pours hazy straw yellow with a monstrous bubbly white head that retains well and laces the glass a little.
The aroma is sweet bready malts, with some earthy yeast and spice (coriander) and some soapy floral notes.
The flavor is sweet bready malts with some earthy fruits and medium bitterness in the finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with sharp carbonation.
Overall, an OK saison. It's too sweet and soapy / floral for me. -

Before a year or two ago, saison was a style I could pass on, but no more. They've come on strong, and the average one being made is as good as the better ones from years past. This is a fantastic lightly tart, fruity (thinking pear and a touch of peach) saision, with a great soft feel, hints of hay and very light pepper. Overpriced at 8.25 per 500, but damn good.
