This was mighty tasty. Interesting idea, I’ve not had any other india brown ales. this definitely smelled like a chocoalte IPA... which was interesting and I was uncertain by the aroma whether i’d like it or not. But alas, the first sip convinced me it was worth it. Had the hoppiness and very slight bitterness of an IPA but was smoothed out by the chocolate, maltiness, and nutty brown ale qualities. Very interesting and well worth having. well done.

This one would put up a fierce fight with Dogfish Head’s Indian Brown Ale, and would probably win because of a more complex malt body. Like the DFH brown, this one isn’t afraid of the hops. There’s a strong hoppiness, but the hops give off a good bit of pine instead of any citrus. The flavor actually has the malt holding it’s own with a light sweetness, a good hazlenut and bit of dry cocoa powder. The description on the chalk board in the brewpub said this one was inspired by a beer brewed in 1995 by the long-defunct Blind Man Ales.
