A playful invitation of dark fruit and bubblegum aromas excite curiosity, while a peppery spiciness and warming alcohol sensation provide contrast to the rich malt flavors. At 10.8% ABV, this is one deceptively drinkable ale. Malts: Pale, Munich, Aromatic, Crystal 120, Special B, Carafa II, Chocolate Hops: Northern Brewer, Columbus Yeast: Belgian Trappist Adjuncts: Belgian Candi Sugar O.G. 21.6 plato, F.G. 2.5 plato Only the 2nd beer we’ve bottled at CooperSmith’s (the first is Christmas / Jingle Ale), this Belgian Dark Strong Ale is available in 500 ml bottles. The Belgian ale yeast utilized creates a cathedral of flavors, from bubblegum to pepper. A secondary fermentation is induced in the bottle, raising incrementally the ABV but mainly intended to carbonate the beer.

500 ml bottle. Pours dark ruby amber with a smallish creamy off white head that goes to a thin film and laces the glass.
The aroma is sweet fruity malts with a lot of strong alcohol.
The flavor is sweet dark fruits, bubblegum and candy sugar with a lot of peppery alcohol. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with low carbonation.
Overall, a bit too hot and sweet for me.
