This smooth ale is defined by cherries but has a big body to back it up. Dark Sweet Bing and Red Tart cherries are added at the fermenter, aging tank, and finishing tank. Two hundred fifty pounds of cherries are used total, or one pound per gallon. A special Munich malt and Honey malt are used along with German hops to make this a very rich-tasting red ale.

Coopersmith's Anniversary Cherry Ale poured dark ruby red with a nice head with medium bubbles that quickly dissipated except for a small remainder. It had a mild cherry bouquet. The beer had a nice cherry taste that was not overwhelming, but it had a slightly acidic aftertaste. Normally, I'm not a big fruity beer fan, but this cherry was fairly mild and very drinkable.
