The color is a medium reddish brown with good clarity. This is lightly malty with slight bitterness and chocolate finish

Church Brew Pious Monk Dunkel poured a brownish body with almost no head. A sweet malty aroma which was pleasant. A sweet taste but not as good as other dunkels that I've had. Overall a solid brew that is drinkable

Very drinkable, but a bit simple. Pours a dark brownish red, with a thin head. Aroma is caramel, biscuit, and nutty. Flavor starts with toffee and caramel, hints of chocolate, finishes with biscuity and nutty flavors, and ends a bit dry without much of a hop presence. A very drinkable beer, session dunkel for sure.

Incredible. A wonderful craft brewed German style dunkel from the suds masters at the CBW. The head melts quickly but leaves a slight ring of lacing around the top of the dark reddish (in the light) to brown hue. Clean fresh malt scents waft from the holdings, like a nice pure German dark lager. On the tongue, the beer itself is smooth and flavorful, with a nice roasted malt quality. Nutty flavors and notes of brown sugar and a spicy dryness to the wrap up are present. Well balanced with regard to the hops as well. I want to live in the CBW's bell tower so I can get more of this one. Just call me the Quazimoto of the beer world! Arrgh, The Bells, Esmerelda! The Bells!

Pours a rich brown color with thin white head and a nose that is subtle - but what's there is mostly malt with a little sweetness. Body is a little heavier than your average lager - more ale like; flavor has a nice earthy/malty quality. This is a very nice brew- not the best out there, alos not the best from this particular brewer, but good.

Pours with an amber brown body topped by a medium thick head with some lace. Sweet malty aroma with some fruity notes. Slightly sweet malty flavor wtih licorice notes and a hont of fruit. Medium bodied and smooth.
