Types de bois: Chêne français, Chêne américain, Whisky 3 fermentations: Cuve, Barrique, Bouteille The "Grande Réserve" fermented and aged in wooden barrels is an exceptional beer that benefits from triple fermentation and extended maturing in barrels. Unfiltered, unpasteurised, this beer has an incomparable rounded, wooden flavour. (from label) Chimay Bleue is a dark beer that gets better over the years. It combines aromas of fruit and chocolate, which transform into a sweet mocha with a spicy character. Since 2015, Chimay has been honoring an ancestral method; proceed to a second fermentation of the Chimay Blue in wooden barrels. This method provides exceptional flavors and a complex taste that varies according to the type of barrel used. This beer also goes through a third fermentation in the bottle. The Grande Réserve barrel fermented is placed in a black bottle to improve the aging potential of the product. It is even better to taste with its special glass. 2018 WHISKY EDITION To the eye, an intense brown beer, with bright glints and creamy foam. On the nose, woody notes and delicate hints of pears as well as plums. On the palate, the barrel-ageing provides bread crust, roasting and smoky aromas, enhanced by a touch of honey and vanilla. 34% french oak 41% american oak 25% Whisky Wheel of flavors 4 Wood 3 Bread 2 Honey 2 Vanilla 4 Sugar 3 Whisky 4 Alcohol 3 Barley 2 Bitterness 1 Acidity 2 Spices 2 Fruits 1 Flowers 3 Moka 2 Caramel 3 Toast (out of 5) Color Dark brown Beer look Limpid Foam look Thin (from https://chimay.com/en/taste/our-beers/#grande-reserve-barrel-fermented) Entry encompasses the 02/2018 and 08/2018 versions.
