In a style that has many false representation in the U.S., this one is the real McCoy. A very true to style IPA is a hopheads dream. In attempt to keep beer from spoiling in the longer journey from England to the Indian colonies, the two natural preservatives in beer (alcohol and hops) were increased considerably. Our IPA has a distinct sharpness of British hops and a dry, crisp, malty profile.

A retired brew? I got the last one at Steve's in Madison. Pours a hazey bright orange colour with a small off white head. Aroma is fruity, with tropical fruits and noticeable pleasent hop character. Taste is citrusy, astringent- well balanced but with a swift hop kick. Floral with generous amounts of grapefruit and green apple.

A cloudy dark copper color with a medium cream-colored head with good lacing. The nose is fresh and fruity, with faint aroma of apples. Mouthfeel is full and rich. Taste is balanced malt and mild sweet-fruity hops at initial taste, yielding to a bold bitter finish. A tad reserved for what I expect in an IPA; between this and CW's APA, I prefer the Happy Heron Pale Ale.

A different IPA, but a good one. Certainly more of a true English-style IPA than many hop-heavy American versions (not that there's anything wrong with that!) A deep, cloudy copper hue with a thin ivory head leaving very abundant lacing. Mostly malt aroma, lightly hopped. Initial flavor is more sweet than bitter, but the hop does come through in a mild and balanced finish. Wouldn't recommend this one to extreme hopheads looking for intense bitterness, but I find it a tasty, if slightly sweet, change of pace for my sometimes hop-stunned papillae.
