So I went to the local bottle shop yesterday with plans of purchasing a cheap cask of white wine when this beer caught my eye. Instead of purchasing my regular 6-pack of Cascade Draught stubbies, I decided to spend AUD$4.00 extra and try these Carlsberg "Elephant Beer". I've tried many beers and I'm particularly fond of heavier black ales such as Kilkenny but decided to try a "green bottled" beer as it was on special. Upon arriving back at my mates house and cracking my first I decided that I'd made a mistake. At this point I was drinking from the bottle and found it rather offensive to my tastes, although I did appreciate the high alcohol content and attributed some of the bitter taste towards this. At this point in the review I've decided that I'm rambling on a bit too much and I've got other things to do so I will hasten. This beer is very smooth in the mouth and goes down the throat in a fairly straightforward manner, although there's a definite hint of that alcohol warmth you would expect from a wine or perhaps a weak spirit. The flavour of this beer is nothing short of pitiful. As it first enters your mouth there is a rather appealing perhaps ... fruity taste which then transcends into tastely standard lager flavours. This beer does have a strange, yet unoffending aftertaste...which is highly reminiscent of the hay like aroma that it gives off at first sniff. Overall I would drink this beer no problems but prefer a dark malty ale any day.

Pours clear copper with a thick, though not long-lasting, cream head. Aroma presents crisp malt and - ewww, wet dog. Flavor yields fresh malt and a little sweet pomme - the wet dog is gone, but it is a bit skunky - plus an undertone of bitter hops. Mouthfeel features so-so body and fizz. Well, I had to try it.

this poured a clear yellow in color with white foam head. Aroma of regular beer. Taste was average with nothing to note as special. alcohol content is high so it packs a wallop.

Clear yellow with white foam head. Aroma of regular pilsener, so is taste. Nice beer for holiday and to add on the list of Danish beers. (Kalmar 201307)

Pours a dark golden color. Smell is of light grains, some malts. Taste is grains, alcohol, not very pleasant. Overall I was unimpressed, a below average beer.

pours a light straw colour with a thin white head that leaves minimal lacing. The aroma is of corn and lager hops along with some citrus and a generally sweet aroma. The overall aroma is a crisp and clean. The taste is of lager malts and hops along with some mild citrus and some malts. There is a fair amount of alcohol along with a spicy finish. The mouthfeel is smooth but rounded off with a crisp and slightly bitter finish. Carbonation is medium.

A golden colored beer. Big fluffy textured white head rises above. A decent hang time settling into an impressive lacing of soapy film on the sides of the glass and ringlet atop the body. Sweet, nearly skunky grain in the nose. Sweet grain, phenols contributes to the skunkiness. Light notes of grass. Medium bodied and creamy. Despite that positive aspect, the tasting is not very good, but what did I expect.

Well, it's not hateful. Tastes a lot like old-school Heinken. It's definently a maly-liquor type taste and certainly a Euro-brew. It's a rather skunky aroma and tastes of grain. I'd have never bought the stuff myself, but someone offered and well, you know the rest...

For a Euro malt liquor, it's really pretty nice. I recall a time when this was consumed fairly regularly in my earlier drinking years, and I thought I was shittin' in tall cotton because it was "imported". Heh...man I was dumb.
So I get this beer to relive old times and watch the Lakers lose to the Nuggets (w00t!), along with a few other oldies. The beer pours out a nice yellow-gold color, slightly darker than most malt liquors with a nice white head. Aroma is slightly skunked, sweet with a touch of grain/corn. Flavor is grainy, yeasty with a bit of sweetness too. Alcohol is pretty well hidden, until it gets warm. Then all hell breaks loose. Drink it before it gets warm. -

I've tried this beer a few times, and still not sure what to think about it. The alcohol is pretty prevalent to me for a 7% beer. It comes out a clear gold colour with a white head. The aroma is alcohol with malt. The flavour is alcohol with malt. This is a heavy beer.
