Inspired by the beauty of their natural surroundings and an ethos of care and dedication, the Celtic monks of the 6th century St Molings monastery in south Carlow produced the Book of Moling, a book of great craftsmanship and artistic achievement. A product of this same environment Molings Traditional Celtic Beer is brewed with the same care and dedication and strives for the same achievement. Molings is a fruity and aromatic beer with a distinctive coffee like finish. The traditional hop flavour balances the sweet malty caramel taste. Brewed with pale malt , torrified wheat crystal malt and generous portion of roasted barley, Molings is an excellent accompaniment to roast dishes.

The beer pours a beautiful translucent red colour with a 1 inch tan coloured head. The aroma is hoppy and slightly sour. The mouthfeel is full-bodied and creamy with mild carbonation. The taste 1s hoppy as well, with some bitterness on the side of the tongue.

A world renowned ale that has the unfortunate reputation of being ‘just another Irish Stout’ in a country that produces Guinness. Personally, this is a very good stout. A dark mahogany colour with a creamy light brown head. No cascading effervescence here. Both the aroma and taste are roasted malts with light touches of coffee and dark chocolate

An ok representation of a style I don't get excited about too often. Nothing wrong with it, and nothing that stands out either. OK nutty malty brew.

Sampled on 6/4/2011. This Irish Ale pours a dark amber brown color from a 330ml bottle. Small sized white foamy head with decent retention and nice lacing. The aroma is caramel and sweet, perhaps a touch of fruit. A medium bodied Irish Ale. The malts are caramel and sweet. The hops are herbal. Lively carbonation. Malty and slightly sweet. It is what it is, would make an OK but somewhat bland session ale. A touch cola like at the finish. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Ruby amber pour with minimal head and very light lacing. Sweet and slightly toasted malty aroma with a very slight lemony sour smell. Taste has a touch of the sourness but overall sweet malts and light fruitiness. A little disappointing but still drinkable; better as it warms a tad.

In the beginning for me there was Killian’s. A good beer. But there better of that style. And who better tomake a good Irish Red than the Irish? This one, a deep mahogany colored beer with a big creamy textured, tannish head rising robustly above. Some hang time, settling onto spots of film aside the glass and atop the body. Nice soapy ringlet makes up the rest of the lacing. Toasted biscuits in the nose. The body is medium. Nicely carbonated. The flavors are sweet caramel-breadiness. Nice light grassy hoppiness balances that sweetness out.

It pours a dark brownish-red with thick and dimpled dark-white head and copious lacing. An aroma of caramel malts, hops, oranges-citrus, and spiciness. The mouthfeel is smooth, lightly creamy, and average-bodied. Flavors of caramel malts, hops, citrus, bread and yeast, light raisins, and spiciness. Great!

More brown than red... thin head. Smokey perhaps a little peaty. Far too sweet for my personal taste. Medium maltiness and mouthfeel... just average all around.

Bottle. Poured an amber brown with reddish tones colored ale with a three fingers beige creamy foamy head that had a mid-sized retention. Active carbonation. Good lacing. The aroma is slight toasted malts, dark ripe fruits. The flavour is toasted malts, herbal hops, spicy, licorice. The mouthfeel is crispy and quite watery. This light to medium bodied ale has a pronounced bitter finish. A nice irish ale.

Beautiful pour--dark brown with ruby highlights and a thick, creamy beige head. Aroma is sweet and malty. Taste is likewise sweet and bready with hints of caramel and chocolate and just a touch of hop bitterness in the finish. Not spectacular but nonetheless a decent Irish red.

Nice reddish brown color, not so much foam. Aroma has strong caramel and fruits in it. Taste is sweet at the beginning and it goes to bready and candylike. Aftertaste is a little bit bitter and has sidekick of chocolate in it.
