Burnside Oatmeal Pale Ale is brewed using copious amounts of Crystal, Galena, & Fuggle hop varietals. This is a clean dry Pale Ale with low bitterness and lots of hop flavor. We have chosen to add 75 pounds of locally rolled oats to increase body and give our Pale a sweet creamy finish.

Very excited to try this since I've been meaning to brew an oatmeal IPA for the longest time. Unfortunately, this beer comes up a little short, mostly because of the hops used. Smooth, creamy mouthfeel, earthy hop aroma and taste. Would likely be better with more American hops instead.

Sweet and very smooth, the oats lending itself well to the feel but otherwise coming up a little short. Ends up being a slightly confused kinda-hoppy beer.

From my notes: Sampled at the brewery and a week later from the bottle. Rich translucent amber. Smooth as f&%k. So creamy. Crisp, not biting. Reminds me a little of cider, in the colour and a few cider-esque notes. Could make a fine cider/beer mashup. Don't really taste the oatmeal, but it's behavior is evident.

I will have this from time to time when I'm visiting Burnside. It certainly seems to be a staff favorite. Clean on the hops, even though there's a ton of it in it. Creamy from the oats. sweet, dry finish.
