Buckeye recently bottled their Altbier for the 2011 Cleveland Beer Week offering. Solid attempt, but it fell short for me. Decent amount of nutty and caramel malts with a hint of grassy noble hops, however it came across as yeasty with an off putting aftertaste. Nice looking amber brown pour, so it had that going for it. A bit let down by this one.

Pours a clear copper with a good head. The aroma has a whiff of caramel malt, but not a lot. There’s an almost grapey or apricot fruitiness in there as well. It’s a touch overcarbonated with detracts a little.
