Rated in Feb. 2013. 12oz bottle pours clear brown with ruby red hues and a semi loose tan head of foam. The aroma offers up a little bit of dark roasted malts and coffee flowing into ginger-ish sort of herbal notes and a berry sensation. The taste moves from moderately roasted malts and then to a bit of berry, cherry and raisin fruitiness. Above that is a sort of spicy woodnote and maybe some ginger root. At times it seems a little chocolate like and coconut cut with very thin lemon peel like notes. Pretty nice but it seems to struggle to hold all of the flavors together.

From slowrunner in a recent trade: brown transluscent pour, short tight off-white head, some lacing. Sweet spice aroma, somewhat weak, lots of brwon sugar esepcially after it warms a bit, hint of the yams and pumpkin, a touch of citrus. Malty brwon sugar sweet flavor, light sweet potatoes, hint of lemon, still a bit thin though. Maybe past it's prime but still a tasty concoction. Thanks Chris - Love those collaboration brews.

Another winner from a colloborative Stone. This one a mahogany colored beer with a medium sized, frothy off white head. Good hangtime. Settles eventually into a thick ringlet. and film. Earthy, rooted vegetables, sweetness all blended nicely in a light effervescent beer.

Sampled on 12/31/11. This spiced ale pours a dark amber brown color from a 12oz bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is earthy, fruity and sweet. A medium bodied spiced beer. The malts are caramel, earthy and semi sweet. The hops are herbal and earthy. Decent carbonation. Definitely taste the Yams and pumpkin; the birch bark and lemon verbena are also fairly noticeable. It’s definitely a very weird beer, and I can see where it might fall into the love it or hate it category. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean, dry and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter with a bunch of birch bark.

if i don't think of this as a pumpkin beer (listed first on the bottle) i can really dig it. this was the first of two unique beers i had tonight. color of a brown ale, body somewhere between brown and porter. very smooth, and supports the flavor well. starting colder, the lemon was front and center and at first could be mistaken for citrusy hops. at a cool temp, this beer was at it's best, as the yams and herbal flavor and aroma really blended well with the lemon. warmer, the lemon fades, and the fenugreek takes center stage. interesting beer. misleading, though, as pumpkin is the one thing you don't really taste or smell. too bad too, Elysian does pumpkin best.

It pours a dark brown & red with a fairly thick and dimpled light-tan head and thin lacing surrounds the glass. An aroma of caramel/roasted malts, hops and pine, grapefruit and citrus, light chocolate and coffee, and a wealth of spices. The mouthfeel is smooth and rich. Flavors of roasted malts, chocolate, coffee bean, hops, orange and citrus, raisin and dates, and spices galore! Excellent!

Pours dark brown with a small head that dissipates to little more than a ring. Aroma of dirt and citrus. Not getting much in the way of pumpkin out of it. Mouth is just OK and all around flavor profile, while interesting, just doesn't really do it for me.
