Almost black in color, 1/2 in. head. Taste of scotch, oak and peat. Maybe because on draft but definetly could taste the 10% abv which differs from reviews of bottles. ABV not over powering but could tell drinking a beverage with a kick. Enjoyed!

past the best by date, but you really couldn't tell. as with all of the paradox line, kinda thin and lighter in color than most impys. a little bit of odd spice in the flavor of this one, which makes it just a hair lower than most of the others. well blended though. whisky, dark chocolate and roast, with a hint of cinnoman (yeah i'm sure i spelled that wrong). nice beer. but i prefer the mikkeller black hole series, though.

Like a VQA, DOGC or AOC wine, this beer certainly exhibits no flaws. Its lovely, well balanced, chocolaty and slightly on the sweet side, but has nothing to resemble sugars, like a vegetable in that respect. Great aroma, scotch but on the faintest notion at a light carmel aroma from a long time opened scotch bottle. Seems to be a slightly silky note of really really really overripe date compote. Touch of roasted barley... maybe.

Strong, rich aroma has tones of molasses, toffee and roast coffee plus hints of whisky and wood. It pours a near-black sable with a light tan head that disappears a little too quickly. Mouth-filling flavor includes roast coffee, smoky chocolate and molasses as well as nutty, woody and whisky hints. The alcohol bite is fairly strong but not too fierce. Texture is smooth and edgy, leaving a smoky and slightly sweet molasses finish.

THis is an excellent stout, one of my favourites, but pretty hard to find. A deep black pour with a brown head. Anise, coffee, roasted malt, and chocolate are the aromas of the day. The flavour is smooth, complex, and delicious....lots of roasted malt, coffee and a hint of molasses.

This is the Beer Idol beer. I'm not not into beer caps, so it doesn't really matter to me, but I didn't want my 'Beer idol beer' to be a Molson Canadian 67. The beer poured a solid dark brown colour with a bubbly tan coloured head. The aroma was dark fruits, roasted malt, coffee, and vanilla. The mouthfeel was medium bodied, with medium carbonation...but thin for an Imperial Stout. The flavour was coffee, roasted malt, some caramel, and some vanilla. It's obviously a popular choice amongst the wait staff because every single one of them has made a positive comment about the beer as they've passed by.

330 ml bottle, batch 016, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 10%. Black colour, big brown head. Moderately roasty and oaky aroma with strong notes of vanilla and freshly baked buns, also hints of liquorice, chocolate and dark died fruits. The flavour has strong roasty coffee notes, also distinct notes of peat smoke / malt whisky. Hints of English liquorice, bitter hops in the finish. Awesome beer!

Bottled (thanks TBone). Deep ambery brown colour, mediumsized brown head. Aroma is cookies, liquorice, ashes, caramel and some mild wooden and alcoholic notes. Flavour is cookies, tar, some alcohol, liquorice. Leaves quite much the same flavours in the aftertaste. Wellbalanced, but could be a bit more aggressive.

had on CASK!! .. Pours out a still dark brown black, small ring of medium bubbles, but typical cask look .. sweet tar, light sweetness, touches of burnt wood and whisky .. fantastic stuff, and being on cask super drinkable and equally dangerous! i finished half the pint in about 3 minutes.. .. I had the group liquidated, you little shit! They were insolent!

Black brew with a thin brown cap, ample silty lacing. Wonderful aroma. Chocolate and more chocolate.. there is more.. what is it? Wet grain, odd old musty anesthetic mint, old wood chips, sweet caramelly vanilla (vanilla is very very mellow). Maybe the mint is more of an ancient mint in a baking pantry from 1960. The taste also does not disappoint - chocolate, soft alcohol, maybe .. maybe weak coffee, a mild beer for 10% strength. Dark fruit, bitterness of a raisin, some wood on the breath, solid grain aftertaste that is very familiar to me due to the scotch addiction. Creamy, velvety soft on the mouth, near zero alcohol burn, finally some roasted bitterness on the finish. Very drinkable but nothing over the top.
