Almost black in color, 1/2 in. head. Taste of scotch, oak and peat. Maybe because on draft but definetly could taste the 10% abv which differs from reviews of bottles. ABV not over powering but could tell drinking a beverage with a kick. Enjoyed!

Would never had guessed this beer as an Imperial Stout. Had the taste of a double with the kick of a triple. Mug a dark amber color, slightly cloudy, taste of malt and a bit sweet. Overall a very nice beverage but in my opinion not properly classified.

Very nice beer from Southern Tier. 10% ABV somewhat subdued until the last half of my mug. Nice medium brown color, very much an English Barley Wine vs. an American Barley Wine. Not hoppy, sweet, malty, enjoyed very much. Recommended

The sample being reviewed is a 2009 draft. I've only had this on draft a few other times so I was very pleased to find it on tap at my favorite beer bar. N'Ice Chouffe is one of my favorite beers period. The 2009 on draft was extrememly smooth, poured a nice dark brown with a one inch head. Couldn't tell it was a 10 ABV beverage. Slight taste of plums and raisins. Absolutly incredible. In my opinion only Scaldis Noel and Delirium Noel are the only other two Belgiums that can hold a candle to this fine beer. Hopefully I can find a couple of bottles to cellar!

Sampled this beer yesterday at the brewery/vinery. I am fan of this brewery, but not of this beer. A very light color, minimal head with a bit of an aftertaste.
