A little dark and sweet and malty for my tastes, but that being said...still enjoyed it. Just leaning towards the barleywine catergory a little and away from the bright hoppy IIPAs I gravitate towards.

22 oz. bottle (Thank you Hamilton23!) poured into a Duvel tulip. Aggressive pour yielded a reddish amber with a smallish off-white head which never seemed to go away. Lacing was apparent throughout, as well. Nose was caramel, orange, pineapple, pine, and some grassiness. Taste was maple sugar, caramel, pineapple, and some spice. Mouthfeel was heavy for a DIPA with healthy carbonation, a little sticky and some booziness, although not unpleasant. This is NOT your typical west coast style DIPA (which I love) but VERY nice. It is well-balanced (NOT bitter), with a hefty malt backbone and just an all around interesting ride. I recommend you try it and only wish I could (again).

Big sandwich fan, so I had a go at this offering during a hotel tasting. Moderately hopped up and caught between the West Coast fashion and the Midwest comfort. Balanced and drinkable, easy to appease.
