The barrel-aging is done with red wine barrels on this beer. Pours a light reddish brown color with a small white head that settle into a ring on top of the beer. Aromas of red wine, wood, yeast and some barnyard funk. Tastes as it smell with the wine and wood leading the flavors. Yeast and funk follow and the rose hips and hibiscus help to give this beer a tart, berrylike flavor. A unique and interesting beer that I normally wouldn't give a second look at since I'm not generally a big fan of saison/farmhouse ales. Had it in a 4 oz. sample and was sold on it. Proceeded to get a full pour. Hoping it's not a one off. Probably will go back to enjoy again.
