Ed has brewed a batch of pumpkin ale to celebrate the season. He roasted pie pumpkins and used his own blend of spices to brew this beer that reminds me of my Mom’s pumpkin pie.

Pours no head whatsoever and has a hazy orange/amber appearance. Pumpkin spice aromas are dominant. Flavours are also of pumpkin spice. Some pretty noticeable notes of nutmeg and more spices. Has a watery mouthfeel. Not really the pumpkin ale you want to recommend to newbies.

Part of the 2012 LCBO Fall Seasonal lineup. Not a huge fan of pumpkin beers and this is one of three at the LCBO this fall. A copper coloured ale with a decent sized cap. Pumpkin pie is in the aroma and the flavour. Spices are noticeably weak leaving this a beer to avoid.

1/2 liter bottle: pours an orangey-amber hazed ale in the glass - 2 finger tight-pored off white cap lasts well, laces the glass. Moderate carbonation. Aromas of musty pumpkin shell and toasty-bready malts, a hint of sweetness, some grassyness. Medium bodied, demure rounded character. Flavor is a very pleasing pumpkin and caramalt blend in the front, some tostiness, some spice, some hop bittering to balance, this intensifies a bit going to a lingering balanced finish. A substantial pumpkin ale flavourful but demure without being understated - a very drinkable pumpkin brew. I like it.

Pours a slight hazy amber colour with a creamy off-white head that gives out a bit of lacing. Not really enjoying the scent. Reminds me of when you forget your pumpkin puree in the fridge for a while and they start turning bad. OK, not as bad as it sounds, but kind of outdated (maybe gets better near the last pour). Cannot smell the spices either. The taste is a bit better. Creamy mouthfeel with the Black Creek grain malt flavours. Still, not much spices. Preferred the new Rickards Cardigan for the spices of Autumn.

The beer poured a translucent cherry red colour with a thin tan ring for a head. The aroma was weak pumpkin, caramel, and herbal hops. The bottle says spices as an ingredient, but I'm not feeling them aromatically. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour is weak pumpkin, grass, and bitter hops. I generally like pumpkin beers, but this is far from my favourite.
