First brewed in England around 1630, this beer style became popular in the early 18th century, as an alternative to the darker beers of the period. Bitter Root Brewing uses the finest malted barley to brew this English style Pale Ale, and traditional hop varieties give our Pale Ale its hop character.

A pretty plain English pale ale. Pour is clear amber with a medium white head and plenty of lace. Aroma isn't great. Some earthy notes and sweet malts. Mostly sweet and roasted malt in the taste; very little hops; just slightly bitter in the finish. There are better options available.

220z Bottle, 11/03. Pours a brilliant copper with medium, pale head and good lace. Aromas of sweet malts, floral, gym sock. Flavors are initially sweet and bready, hop profile is subdued. Most of the bitterness is just before the finish rounding out at the end. Not a typical NW pale, good though.
