Back in ’93, Ed McNally went to the zoo. No one is sure why. Ed just seems to get around. At any rate, while there, he was fascinated by the ugliest creature he had ever seen. The beast reminded him of the wild boars featured on the labels of some classic British beers, but it was far more bizarre. It was a warthog, and Ed decided it deserved its own ale.

Clear pour, amber-hued, miniscule beige head. Faint aroma, maybe malt. Forgettable flavour, basic Big Rock beer with seemingly more malt than hop. Mouthfeel was lacking in substance. Flaccid finish. Traditional is better.

Poured into glass, a thin layer of head, creamy. A light amber appearance. The aroma is pretty strong, of wheats and malts. lacing is ok. Flavour is hints of caramel, roasted malts, and something burnt haha. Not too bad, mixed emotions with the aroma (something's off, can't quite pinpoint). First time trying this beer, drank directly from bottle. It glass, aromas escape, and doesn't sit with me well. Might keep drinking from bottle :(

This review done at my father’s 65 birthday party and the fact the they splurged and got a couple of the Big Rock taster packs instead of their normal cube of Coors Light is a mirical. Body of the brew is brown with a thin film of bubbles floating on top and after 1 min. its all gone, this looks completely flat. Aroma is mild with sweet malts that have traces of milk chocolate, some wood and a faint hint of hops. Strange even though the beer looks completely flat it seems to have an abundance of stinging carbonation that is warming the stomach. Very bready taste with slight lemony hops. Yuck to look at the beer now with not one single bubble on top it looks like I’m drinking brown water. Is that melon I’m tasting? Strange there is nothing special about this beer but its enjoyable, it is one of Big Rock’s better offerings it has a nice light easy drinking flavor that allows you to consume massive quantities in a single evening causing a death cloud of Big Rock morning after gas the next day. Brew got more caramel in the last ounce or two once at room temp.

Worst Big Rock investment I have ever made. The pour is dark and the aroma is actually very good, I had large expectations when I dipped my lips to the pint but it came up very short. Will never purchase this beer ever again.

The beer poured a reddish-brown colour with a thin whitish head. The aroma was stale malt with a little bit of hops. The mouthfeel was medium-thin with high carbonation. The taste was grainy with no detectable hops or malt. -

This is Big Rock's version of Newcastle Brown Ale, only it's a superior brew in my opinion. The beer is brown with a tan coloured head. The aroma is malty and nutty with a slight hoppy hint. The mouthfeel is creamy with just mild carbonation and a dry bite. The flavour is nutty with a nice hoppish bite.

This is a brown ale like no other..........or at least no other that I have had. It's a reddish brown beer with a small off-white head. The aroma is a little bit of malt and a little bit of brown sugar. It's got a thin mouthfeel. The flavour is a bit thin too. There is a slight bitterness however that makes it all worth while.

Bought 2 of these from the liquor store "odds" section....didn’t want a 6 as I had my fill of this in Calgary. It’s what I used to think was a micro brew before I knew any better. Pours a crystal clear amber-brown color with a small head that reduces quickly. Slight understated aromas of roast malts, caramel. Starts light with the nutty malts out-balancing the weaker hops..thin body...light clean finish. Thin/watery body and light real ale flavors but still not enough to satisfy my tastes in an ale.

Not bad a beer. Just a little watery and weak. With a tad more malt, or if it wsdn't so weak, it'd be a nice beer. The reigning Cream Ale is still Magnotta's.

A very nice light cream ale. A bit of bitterness but overall alot of flavour and no excess carbination. A nice drinking canadian ale, i would like to try more of big rock's products.
