The Big Rock Urban Brewery brewed up two fresh hop beers for 2015. The Centennial Wet Hop Pale Ale is a single hopped Pale Ale that uses the iconic Centennial hop. The two fresh hopped beers have very similar bottles but this one is appropriately labelled with the Centennial title. From the bomber bottle this beer pours as an amber colour with two fingers of head. The frothy top is dense and leaves a dense lacing on the glass’s sides as it slowly settles. The aroma has a lightly sweet tone to it with a toasted malt note but that just leaves room for the citrus and light pine hop tones to grow. The aroma may not be extremely hoppy but the fresh hop gives a grassy-like tone that joins a citrus tone and an almost garlic and dill like tone to the aroma. The flavour is light for an IPA but a great balance of malt and hop tones. The light caramel flavour leads up to the citrus, grass, pine tones and that unique dill like tone that the centennial hop brings to the equation. This beer is fresh, delicious and a great representation of what the Centennial Hop can do in a BC-styled IPA.

Bomber from Value On. Poured an okay-looking clear copper under a big, rocky white head. Aroma was not really IPA-like; I'm not getting any citrus, but thee might be some malt. Decent mouthfeel. Flavour was like a glassful of dirt. No discernable bitterness. Rogue bottle or just crap beer? Wish I know. Certainly NOT fresh or delicious.
