This dark brown ale is slightly sweet with a caramel and dark fruit finish. A show case of fine English malts, floor malted the old way. We use pale, chocolate, and crystal malts to produce a complex, but easy drinking dark ale. Very reminiscent of northern English ales.

Pours a dark, semi-transparent chocolaty brown with a fairly thick, if not too persistent, light tan head. Malty aroma has tones of molasses and caramel and a sweet hint plus a touch of hops. Flavor has malty and molasses notes plus hints of caramel, hops and honey. Smooth texture has above-average body and a little fizz. Bad penny? Not too shabby!

Nice brown ale! Picked this up on the recent trip to NC. A crowd pleaser at the beer tasting I hosted last night. Pours a clear reddish brown. Nice froth and plenty of lacing left behind. Malts are pleasently balanced, coffee notes, apple and caramel flavors.

On tap @ Barley's in Asheville. Beautiful deep amber pour with a sustained creamy head and tons of lacing. Soft toasted malts, a good bit of coffee, some caramel in the rich aromas. Taste is smooth and mild with a touch of the coffee, an easy maltiness and a very slight sweet flavor. A very good brown ale. Wife enjoyed this one too.

Bottle courtesy of durhambeer. Pours brown with a thin white head. Smells earthy and sweet. Tastes of sweet malt with a touch of spice and an earthy finish. Decent.
