4.5% alcohol A pale, sparkling blonde ale, the Claire Fontaine’s delicate bubbles produces a lively effervescence and a creamy head. Buttered caramel mingles with the fruity aroma of banana and apricot, with subtle hints of hops and hazelnut hovering in the background. This beer has a taste of sweet grains with a hint of bitterness. With its light mouth-feel and tangy taste of mineral salts the Claire Fontaine is very refreshing and a great thirst quencher.

Bought at La Trappe À Fromage in Gatineau, Quebec. Best before August 2006... close call. Pours a golden-yellow colour with lots of carbonation. The white head is wet and bubbly, disappearing quickly, leaving no lace. The nose is grainy with malts and has hints of perfum. The taste is kind of weird, with something that reminds me of coconut and wax. Quite anoying, as it stayed into the aftertaste. Their buckwheat beer (Ambrée de Sarrasin) is much better.

Bottle: Poured a golden yellow color ale with a medium bubbly white head with minimal retention. Aroma of sweet malt is quite weak. Taste is sweet malt without any noticeable hops and a light body. Not bad just incredibly bland tasting.

Bottled: The pour put a pale yellow, lightly hazed ale in my tulip with a nice compact frothy cap. Lively effervescence. Nose is of buttery caramel and apricots. Light bodied ale has a spritzy moth to it...mild bready taste puncuated by musty nut tones ( almonds) finish is tangy, fruity and clean...a savory thirst buster.
