The Project comprises five new ales, four in series and one specialty strong product. The first four, Wheat 2, Wheat 4, Wheat 6 and Wheat eight are all made using 55% Wheat (either wholly or mostly malted) and 45% Barley malt. The barley malt makeup is exactly the same in each of the four and consists of three different malts. The total amount of grain in each of the four is also exactly the same, so each of them should have a virtually identical original gravity. The type and amount of hops in each of the four is exactly the same. And the processing through the brewhouse and fermentation is also exactly the same. The changing factors between the ales are the composition of the 55% of wheat used and the type and number of yeast strains used. Wheat 4 is made with four different wheats and four yeasts. Wheat Four Wheats: White, Victory, Toasted sprouts, Torrefied Yeast: WLP550 Belgian, WLP570 Golden, Wheat Two blend.

I really enjoyed this beer. Huge fluffy head over slightly caramel colored body. Silky smooth mouthfeel with ample carbonation. Plenty of clove, banana, vanilla, wheat and citric notes with hints of toffe-like caramel. Excellent.

The color here is a little darker than the Wheat Two, but then again, this beer is so cloudy that it is actually opaque. The head is huge and creamy. Chunky clusters of foam cling to the sides of the glass. Big cloves, perhaps a touch of bandaid. Decent fruitiness, although the banana is under the cloves. Looks great, but the flavor is a little bit of a letdown.

This wheat beer pours a orange gold color from a 12 oz bottle. Large foamy head. Aroma is citrusy and estery. A medium to full bodied wheat beer. Malts are fruity and grainy. Lots of esters. Little more wheat beer like than the Wheat 2. Seems a little less Belgian in character. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet. Thanks to John C for sharing.

Thanks to my friend JCW for this beer. Bell's always makes some interesting beers. This pours an opaque gold w/ a frothy white head. the aroma is full of clove with hints of banana. The finish is not quite as crisp as I would have expected,

Cloudy dark orange with a large slightly off white head. The aroma is rich bread, lemon zest and some earthy moss. There is also a hint of over ripe bananas. The taste is lemon zest with some old shoe leather. There is also some funky dark fruit and a little bit of corriander type spice. A decent version that that has a little more to it than your average wit. Thanks, Weep.
