Deep redish brown pour. Small bubbly head is gone in a second. No lacing. Caramel malt, brown sugar and grass. Not a very full flavoured beer for 8% abv. Taste of caramell, toffee, honey and dark fruits. Not as sweet as most. Medium mouthfeel, well carbonated.

Pours a mahogany type color, brownish red with almost deep purplish hues. Thin layer of head, slight off white color, soapy bubbly. The aroma is of bready malts, rich and doughy. Dark fruits, berries, raisin, slight fig. The taste has dark fruits, raisin, figs. Mildly sweeter fruits like white grapes. Rich malts, toastiness. Slightly herbal, earthy spice on the finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied, very smooth and slightly creamy with moderate carbonation.

A deep dark mahogany in color. Small, red tinged frothy textured head rises briefly above. There's no lacing. Big disappointment. Nose and tongue are bold. In both the profile is sweet, malty, caramel. Medium full bodied. A smoothness.

Lots of malty sweetness in both the nose and flavor, very similar to caramel in flavor and mouthfeel. A little heavy, this is a good beer to sip slowly with someone who would appreciate a big beer.

Clear amber pour with little head nor lacing. Bready and sweet malty aroma with some alcohol. Taste is sweet malty and a bit of biscuit with warming alcohol. Nice doppelbock.

well...i was prepping for a disappointment given the lower scores for this brew. not a disappointment. it's solidly among my favorite DBs. big bready aroma, sweet malt, a touch of booze and a touch of hops, with much more of the same in the flavor. nails the liquid bread aspect DBs are good for.

Brown in color, malty aroma. Big sweet taste with little hops note. Definite taste of molasses and caramel. I've never been real big on sweeter tasting beers, so this isn't one I would try again.

Pours a pretty transparent mahogany with a decent light yellowish-beige head. Aroma is malty and strongly spicy, mainly of cloves and cinnamon. Pleasantly spicy flavor is mainly of cloves and malt with a hint of caramel. Texture is very smooth, a bit thick, edgy and rather fizzy.

Not a bad beer, but just didn't live up to the expectations for what I have come to expect recently from Bell's. Pours a dark brown with a small head - good lacing, though. On the sweet side... too much so for my particular taste. Sweet finish as well. Decent - but not stellar.

Poured from a growler into a shaker pint. Clear red copper color, a little lighter than expected, off-white head with slight but tenacious lacing. Aroma is sweet with a dark fruit undertone. Sweet malt dominates the flavor, with the dark fruit in the background, plum or fig, perhaps, and just a hint of vanilla. Mouthfeel is creamy-smooth, which carries into the finish. Overall, a fine Doppelbock with remarkable complexity for the style
