Dark as the stormy Baltic sea, with thick, chewy malts that satisfy, and rich aromas of chocolate, raisins and caramel. Barley and rye malts, oats, blended ale and lager yeasts and some rare Polish Marynka hops create layers upon layers of complexity. History & Style Beau’s Oktoberfest features a cross-brewery team beer challenge for 2015 – the staff have split into 4 camps, each eager to out-brew each other for the right to Team Beer victory and a place in the 2016 Oktoberfest Mix Pack! Baltic porters share some commonalities with Russian Imperial Stouts, brewed strong to last long voyages across the sea. “One Ping Only” Baltic Porter is brought to you by Team Werewolf. Tasting Notes Aromas of chocolate, raisins and caramel lead into a rich malty sweetness on the palate. Notes of stone fruit, licorice, pleasing alcohol warmth and lots of complexity courtesy of a nine-malt blend. Finishes dry with a slight coffee character. Food Pairings Crème brûlée; espresso-rubbed pork belly or duck breast with roasted plums; gorgonzola dolce; liverwurst on rye bread. Enjoyed at the Loon. Pours a real dark brown colour, almost black, with a small creamy beige head and some decent lacing. Roasted malt aromas with hints of dark fruits. Heavy-bodied with a sticky moutfeel. Taste of roasted malts with a nutty middle and some nice dryness from the hops in the finish. A pretty hearty Baltic porter.

On tap at Arrow and Loon. Pours a fair size frothy brownish head and has a deep dark brown appearance. Lacing is ok. Aromas are toffee, hints of chocolate and vanilla. Flavours are actually fairly sweet, lots of roasted malt notes, cocoa and coffee. Good retention. Oily and slick mouthfeel. Pretty smooth as well. Has a little bit of a warming sensation, quite faint but still noticeable. Good stuff!
