Siduri is an extra-strong saison beer that has been spiced with white peppercorns and aged in red-grape icewine barrels. The characteristic spiciness of the saison beer style is amped up with a judicious addition of organic white peppercorns to the recipe. Siduri’s complexity is delicately enhanced with an aging in red-grape ice wine barrels, as well as bottle conditioning. Siduri, a character in the ancient Mesopotamian work the Epic of Gilgamesh, is an “alewife” or sage female divinity associated with fermentation of beer and wine. Press Release says ABV = 9.5% Bottle says ABV = 10.2%

Beautiful bottles with the full paper wrap around it and tag. After pouring, the foam inside the bottle continues to rise, and out of the bottle... for quite a while. The head stays still though. Big, foamy, soapy with some fluffy lace. Hazy golden colour with tiny bubble carbonation. Fruity malt nose, citrus mostly with the Belgian Ale yeast softness, vanilla and some light grass. The pepper is hard to find, but a little more in the taste. Again, the same yeast and citrus notes. Don't feel much of the Red Ice Wine barrel aging, but goes down nicely as alcohol is very well-blended. Lots of hops in the aftertaste, lingering with a dry bitterness. Expecting a little more though.

The beer pours a hazed dark gold with a huge out of control foamy white head. Aroma is pepper, grains, funky yeast, and weak citrus. The mouthfeel was medium bodied, oily, and average carbonation. The flavour is grainy, peppery hints (and white pepper flakes are evident in the glass), citrus, and funky notes. A good saison with well hidden alcohol.

Pours a huge foamy white head that leaves some soapy lace and has a hazy, orangey golden appearance. Citrus and floral hop aromas. Flavours are fairly sweet, citrusy, orange peel, notes of grapefruit and some lemony hints. Also a bit yeasty. Some sediments are clearly visible. Tasty and faint sourness to it. Good stuff!
