Available year-round, LUG•TREAD LAGERED ALE is our award winning, flagship beer. In developing it, we charged Matt (Matthew O’Hara, our brewmaster) with hand-crafting a beer with a unique style and history, that could be made naturally with certified organic malts & hops and that would be incredibly tasty and very drinkable. We brew this tasty golden ale and then lager it to create a beer like nothing else in Ontario. Tasting Notes Golden-hued, crisp and finely balanced, Lug•Tread is our tribute to the classic beer of Cologne, Germany. Lug•Tread is top fermented (like an ale) and then cold aged (like a lager) for a lengthy period. This gives our beer some light ale notes complemented by a lager-like crispness. Lug•Tread displays interwoven malt and hop flavours, subtle fruit flavours and a crisp, lingering finish. Food Pairings Lug•Tread is the perfect year-round beer with thick, chewy malts to warm in the colder months and a refreshing, crisp finish to quench a summer’s thirst. It is well suited for lighter foods like chicken, salads, salmon, seafood and bratwurst. Monterey Jack, brick or similar light, nutty cheeses are perfectly suited, and for dessert a light apricot or mandarin cake or lemon custard tart would be very delicious. Have no fear, though – with whatever you serve, Lug•Tread’s subtle flavours will not overwhelm the tastebuds, and its crisp dryness is great for cleansing the palate between bites. http://www.beaus.ca/beer/lug_tread

If you watch Big Brother Canada, you’ve seen them drink this beer like it is going out of style. Note to self…it isn’t! This is Canada’s best selling Kolsch style beer, and there is really nothing to it. A translucent blonde colour with a thin snow white head. Grainy malt and earthy hops supply the majority of the aroma and flavour. This is really a gutless beer.

My first Kolsch. Admittedly, not familiar with the style, so I didn't know what to expect, but what I had was not bad. It somewhat reminded of me of a bitter Pilsner. It's was good like I said, but not something I'd wanna drink with regular aplomb. It did have a very sticky after feel in the throat, which was a turn off. I'd try this brewery's other offerings.

Poured a thick bubbly head. Has a pale yellowish colour. Has wheats and grains in aroma, hints of apple, pear. Grainy flavours mixed with a good balance of malts and hops. Has a lemony citrus tang as well. Tingly mouthfeel, medium bodied and retention, good lacing. Also has a faint banana like flavourful mouthfeel. Good stuff and organic! :)

600 ml capped bottle, as a 5.2 % ABV and batch 751. Poured in a large Kölsch stange a clear golden-orange coloured Kölsch with a generous three fingers slight beige soapy foamy head that has a quite long retention and tons of micro bubbles and some bigger one. Sustained carbonation. Some lacing. The aroma is faint sweety malts, faint floral hops, some yeast. The flavour is sweety malts, flowery, violet, bready, floral hops. The mouthfeel is light crispy and quite grainy. This light to medium bodied Kölsch has a dry faint hoppy bitter finish. A fresh and decent Kölsch from the distant Ontario.

The beer poured a translucent pale gold colour with a generous fluffy snow white head. The aroma was grainy malt and floral hops, pretty simple. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour was grainy malt, some woody flavours and a hoppy finish. Not a fan of the style, and this did nothing to change my fandom (or lack thereof). -

Comes with a piece of tire tread wrapped around 4 beers...cool idea. The pour is pale straw yellow with a decent white head on it. Grass and grains make up the aroma with a wisp of floral hops. Flavour is more of the same. Crisp and refreshing, but still a bit bland.

DRANK AT EARL OF SUSSEX PUB ON TAP. Dull gold with a good white cap. The aroma is mainly sweet mild grainy malts with nice apple & weak hops. Taste: nice mild, yet perfect spice, hops, zip, good bitterness, some grain, a touch watery. Zip, yip! Average but very fresh. I love the location of this pub!

Nice... a fairly new brewery from my Franco-Ontarien region. Certified organic malts and local springwater. Comes in a off-white ceramic 750ml bottle. Pours a light yellow colour that is slightly hazy with a good frothy head that disappears slowly and dirty lace remains. The organic malts really shows in the aroma and the grainy taste. Crisp mouthfeel. Quite a different lager, but very nice and refreshing.

Not a bad Kolsch and its always good to support locally brewed products, espeically in the brewing industry. Came a very cool white Grolsch like bottle that feels ceramic. Very clear appperance, and a great summer beer. Very light on the palette, nice clean attack and not alot of bitterness. Very nice

Bottle: Poured a deep clear golden color Kölsch with a big foamy head with average retention and no lacing. Aroma of unrefined grain and weird dry ester is not overly pleasant. Taste is a mix between rich medium sweet grains with again some dry ester. Full body with good carbonation is pleasant. I have to admit that this is not a style that I am overly knowledgeable about or that I appreciated a whole lot but I thought this was acceptable.
