Lamb’s wool is a spiced gruit ale, made with barley malts and blended before fermentation with organic apple juice. Real cinnamon and whole cloves add a warming spice character to this traditional winter wassail. History & Style A ‘Lamb’s Wool’ gruit is made with spices, ale and apples, and has a long history with Celtic pagan roots. It is a traditional drink to be paired with singing, visiting friends, and mid-winter celebrations meant to bring good fortune to homes and harvests in the year to come. Beau’s Gruit Series takes inspiration from centuries-old brewing tradition. Herbs, spices and other botanicals replace a dominant hop character, throwing open the door to experimentation. Tasting Notes Lamb’s Wool pours copper with white foam. The aroma introduces a classic combo of apples and spice. The flavour is pleasantly tart and slightly warming, with fruit and pepper notes. The finish is clean and tangy. INGREDIENTS Local spring water, barley* malts, apple juice*, cinnamon*, yarrow*, hops*, cloves*, brewer's yeast (*organic). MALTS Pale ale, caramel 60, acidulated, chocolate (all organic) HOPS Organic rakau YEAST English ale yeast

600ml bottle. Pours a hazy amber colour with golden highlights. Warm light-beige cap with average stay and some light creamy lacing. Lots of nice spices in the nose that are quite nice for this cold winter night. A nice blend of caramel and biscuit malts in the background. The apples really show more in the taste adding some sweetness and even sourness. The spices wrap everything. Pretty nice! Could probably drink this warmed up. P.S. Then I tried it warm, and it was good - as this is cider-like.
