Off-white frothy head. Lots of bubbles inside the glass. Not as crystal clear as the Racer X was. Orangy-gold body. Pine aroma. But, not as huge as I expected. Hope flavor ramps up a bit. Most definitely resin-like. Body if thick. Sometimes I have to ask whether bigger is necessarily better?

Poured up on tap at the Pleasanton Hopyard where I see a crystal clear copper body with gold edges that supports a semi thin lasting off white head of foam. The aroma offers up a mix of sweet malts, mango, grapefruit and straight up hop resin notes. The taste starts with a very brief moment of sugar malt sweetened citrus and then it climbs into near robust levels of mango, grapefruit and tangelo like fruitiness. It gets pretty resiny and bitter to midway and into the finish with various citrus hop goodness. Excellent IIPA that leans toward bitter hops but offers up pleasing small islands of lightly malt sweetened flavor hops.

Nice, tight, little white head with very good retention and plenty of lace. Hazy, copper hued ale. Nose of grapefruit, lil booze and some iced tea. Body is medium with a soft carbonation, lil oily, expected resin notes N/A, durn it! Nice balance of pale and caramel malts to the citric and piny hoppyness. Dry finish, decent bite. Pours a clear copper with a whispy white head. Surprisingly little lacing. Aroma is slightly biscuity sweet with a great helping of pine, grapefruit, and lemon. Aroma is very pleasant. Flavor starts with pine and sweet biscuit/honey, moves to pine bitterness that is mild and pleasant. This finishes slightly sweet with a medium mouthfeel. Overall well balanced, not as aggressive as i suspected before trying it.

Had this beast once before, but it even stands out amongst other great beers. Ample malt and a good dose of sticky sweetness, but far from what is call balanced. This hop monster showcases citrus hops, plain and simple. Lemon, orange and grapefruit peel. A touch of evergreen. Agressive and delicious!

Tasted on tap at the 11th Bistro Double IPA Festival on 2/12/2011. This Imperial IPA pours a medium orange gold color from the tap. Small to medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is fruity, orange, hoppy and sweet. A medium to full bodied Imperial Pale Ale. The malts are fruity and sweet. The hops are orange, citrusy and grapefruit. Decent carbonation. Very nice balance between the malts and hops, and there are a lot of both of them in this beer. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.
