Crisp and clean, this refreshing Pilsner-style lager is nicely balanced, with a malty-sweet start and a slightly bitter finish. Brewed in Prince Edward County, using only malted barley, hops, yeast and water.

On tap at Arrow and Loon. Pours no head whatsoever. Weak lacing. Has a clear golden appearance. Aromas are light malty and faint hoppyness. Flavours are on the sour fruity side. Oranges, notes of lemon and lime but quite mild. Good retention. Lively carbonation. Not bad.

Bottle: looks like a typical corporate lager in the glass with the exception of a decent puffy cap that lasts well and laces the glass. Hints of cooked cereals and wet straw hops in the aroma - smooth malty body with just a hint of northern brewer hops. A fair light beer but not worth going out of your way for.

I am quite confused here ?? All the other Barley Days beer I have had before came in a 6-pack. Now, you have a typical lager (which is made to drink many and swill-it)... and it comes in a single. It is even listed on the LCBO site as single (only). Funny. Well, pours a golden colour with a small white head that does leave a decent coat on the brew. Not much scent, with little cereal. Boring typical mouthfeel. The taste is bit more than the aromas. Grainy with a little soapy hop in the background. Hints of other vegetables. Manufactured date on sticker (on cap from brewery) says May 22, 2012. Still confused, but glad I had to just taste one of these.

The beer poured a clear medium gold colour with a long lasting white head. Aroma was primarily grass with a hint of floral hops. Mouthfeel was medium bodied, creamy, with mild carbonation. Flavour was grainly malt, some sweetness, and was quite refreshing. -

I tried this a while ago, but it's lack of redeeming qualities still stand out. The beer poured a murky copper colour with absolutely no head. The odour was skunky, like mechanics soap. The flavour was no better, almost salty. I've heard others say nastier things about this beer, but I'll refrain from doing so. I've also heard that this brew hasn't been available since the summer of 06, and that is a good thing.
