This dangerously drinkable garnet beauty is a hop lover's delight. The intense dry-hop nose and the alcohol content are perfectly balanced for a caramel candy-like malt finish. This is a serious beer for serious beer afficianados and it only gets better with age. Cellarable for 3 years.

Alternate description from the bottle: Yep, you're in Hog Heaven! An unbelievably huge explosion of sweet malt tempered by 9.2% ABV and 2-1/2 pounds per barrel of Columbus dry hops. OINK!

I've always loved this barleywine. The aroma is super hoppy with just enough malt to let you know it's there. Very nice copper color with a thick white foamy head. The flavor is just right on point, super hoppy with deep malty-alcoholy finish. Good good stuff!

(bought on vacation in Seattle, WA) Pours extremely clear. Must really filter this stuff! Nice foamy head. No aroma that I can pick out whatsoever which is funny since they say they dry hop it. While hoppyness is there its not overwhelming. Does come out on the palate in the aftertaste. Body is a little on the thin side. If and when Avery ever starts selling here in California I’d probably buy it again. As much as I like the king of barleywines, Bigfoot, this beer would be easier to drink on a regular basis. NOTE: Now available at select BevMO in California!!!

Poured a deep rich inviting clear copper color with a thick near white head. Aroma has the floral/piney hops as well as a hint of malt. While still cold no alcohol was present in the aroma. Taste is an excellent chewy balance between malt sweetness and hop flavor and bitterness. At this point (second sip) seems very well balanced and very drinkable. Not much alcohol detected. A really nice beer.

I’m not good enough to rate this beer. Rather rude, will not purchase again. taste of soap and turpentine. No detectable carbonation. Thick and syrupy. Orange color with a nice creamy retaining head. Mild hop aroma with pine and spruce floral hops. Not as enjoyable as Rock Art Ridge Runner Ale. About on par with Ottos Old Fugget Barleywine and North Country Embalmer or any decent BW.

Slight, tan head with some splotchy lacing. Clear amber color with a pretty red hue. Fruity nose, subtle grainyness in the background, nice. Med/full bodied. Oily, malty, sweet, good hop flavor also. Dry fruity finish with some alc. heat also.

The beer pours a slightly hazed rust color, effervescence is high, and the off-white cap is rocky. Lots of dark fruit and burnt sugar in the aroma, coupled with hints of pine, citrus, and alcohol. Mouthfeel is average. Flavor is all over the place with hints of plums, grapefruit, fresh bread, and wet grass. A decent beer for the style.

With a cold, damp evening approaching tonight I found myself craving a barleywine tonight and picked this one up. Pours a clear reddish brown color with a foamy tan head. Uneven, clinging lacing abounds. Aromas of dates, figs, raisins, sweet malt with a hint of earthy hops. Dates, prunes, figs, raisins and caramel on the tongue. Hops show up on the finish drying my palate. Full, thick mouthfeel. A bit of a boozy taste when cold, but mellows as the beer warms. About two-thirds through the booze starts to hit. I've got a shit eating grin as I finish this review and the beer. A very nice winter warmer.

Pours a beautiful deep orange with a small light tan head and has a good amount of sediment and leaves some nice lacing on the glass. The aroma is an earthy aroma from the hops up front and sweet malt along with honey. The tastes has a nice bitter flavor that is balanced with some sweetness and has some nice caramelized and honey like flavors to go with a nice hop bite. The mouthfeel is medium mouthfeel with little carbonation. Well balanced and tasty all the way through.

Another KnoxBeerCrew Barleywine, this one hoppier than the last English version. Brown pour, short tan head, little lacing. Big earthy hops meet ton 'o malts aroma. Big and impressive. Flavor is hopped considerably, earthy, lightly pined, huge malt presence, caramel, chewy and big. Very nice indeed. And big, very big.

Borderline Top 10 barleywine, but solid nonetheless. Has some hop to it....not quite as bitter and citrusy as a DIPA. For 9.2% (lower end of barleywines), would expect to be slightly smoother with less alchohol bite. Nice to try new samples in this style, but tough to beat a good Old Stock.
