Ale brewed with spices, herbs and figs A refreshingly tart, fruity, funky farmhouse ale brewed with black mission figs, hibiscus flowers and white pepper. Fermented with 100% brettanomyces. 15 years of brewing! You know what's been the best part lately? Tons of experimentation! For the past couple of years, we've been working with several strains of brettanomyces (wild yeast). We found one and deemed it the best for its tart flavor and funky, fruity aroma. Adding black mission figs for a subtle jammy aspect, hibiscus flowers for an herbal bouquet and hazy sunset hue, and white pepper for a bit of spicy twang, we've created FIFTEEN - a unique drinking experience inspired by the wild farmhouse ales of Belgium. Though immensely complex today, more flavors will emerge with time, so throw a few bottles in your cellar for future celebrations. Thanks to all of you who have made our 15-year ride possible! Peace to all and follow your dreams!

22 oz., 1.064 OG, 7.68% abv. 100% wild brettanomyces yeast. Hazy sunset hue. Funky brett smell made tolerable by the sweet figs and perfumy hibiscus. Refreshing, tart, fruity taste. Definitely pick up white pepper in aftertaste. Unusual, enjoyable. Recommended.

This brew poured a dark gold with a creamy with head that dissipated pretty quick. The aroma grapefruit, grapes, and apple. The flavor is citrus, fresh apples, orange and vanilla and a little acidic. Mouthfeel is thin, overall-- I'd drink it again and again...

Bottled in April of 2008, this bomber was shared during a local Memorial Day tasting. Poured a beautiful hazy gold-yellow with a billowing head that diminished over time. Right away I could smell the brett and noticed it's similarity to Orval. Musty fruits with a funky yeast quality. Earthy and assertively spicy. Lightly tart feeling with a quenching, medium bodied finish. Pears, lemon grass, and musty funk. Tart fruits and wild yeast flavors. A hint of pepper and spice. Mellow, wild beer. This beer was well received.

Bottled@Pikkulintu, Helsinki. Hazy yellowish colour, small white head. Aroma is fruits, some grass and mild notes of gluelike alcohol. Flavour is fruity hops, some earth and mild notes of alcohol and vegetables. Aftertaste has also some slight herbal notes.

something funky this was comes!!! I'd been "warned" so it came as no surprise. Poured a hazy golden in color with a frothy off white head. the aroma was initially incredibly appealing...too much going on to list, but you could definitely smell the brett and the figs, and it had the sour apple/cider aspects that i was half expecting. it lost a little of it's appeal as it warmed, but to me the aroma was this beer's forte. the flavor and mouthfeel go hand in hand as the lightness of the beer coupled with the drastic complexities of the flavor was just a little off putting. lots of funky yeast and light fruit characteristics. We were alll hoping for a little more feel to it for a nearly 8% beer. The figs were nice on the palate as well, as was the white pepper. Not something i'd drink often, but a tasty, unique brew for sure.

Pours out in a hazy dark golden color with a small creamy disappearing white foam. Acidity aroma of grapefruit-peels, lemon, green grapes, mild brett and red apples. Medium-bodied with notes of res apples, straw, cork, mild lemon, vanilla and dried oranges. Mild acidic finish of pears, green apples, cork and mandarin.

Bottle from State Line! The pour was decent, golden to amber in color, decent initial head and lacing. The aroma was bretty, funky, light fruits. Flavor was pretty nice, but a bit too malty sweet to be crisp and clean, grapes adding to the aroma elements, along with a finishing spice. The hops and bret notes were just overcome by the extra maltiness. For an Avery brew, quite nice stuff. Not a bad shot at the style, although several others stand above it. Mouthfeel was moderate, and a little errant on the sticky side. (Unfortunately, my brother in-law, during either the opening NFL game or as the RNC McCain speech started, exclaimed that it reminded him of mussel juice, that stuff in which the mussels cook - YIKES!)

Bottle courtesy of Crizay: Poured a deep golden color ale with a large foamy head with a huge pure white foamy head with great retention and great lacing. Aroma is dominated by some funky notes with some light fruity ester and sweet malt. Taste is also dominated by some funky notes produce form the yeast strain that was used with some very light fruity ester and some sweet malt. Great carbonation with an average body and no apparent alcohol. Good but I can’t help thinking that some sourness would have improve balance.

Aroma on this brew is tart and fruity with some strong funk coming through as well as Brett and Belgian yeast with a tad bit of cirus and spice nuiance. Appearance is a golden yellow with no haze when held to with a very large head on top that is full-bodied and a bleach-white in color and remains on top leaving some creamy lacing. Mouthfeel is medium-bodied with some extremely complex character and is wet-like with a palate that is clean and crisp as well as interesting. Flavor is tart but crisp with some sour overtones as well as some strong Brett with some carmelized sugar and has an aftertaste that is spicey and peppery with some very, very faint earthy, figgy note and has a finish that is crisp, clean, tart, refreshing, and very palatable. Overall, an interesting anniversary ale here and a good American representation of Belgian Saison in my opinion and worth seeking out and worth aging for a time to see the changes that will occur; recommended.

Had no idea what this was supposed to be when I ordered it. The pour was very hazy yellow. The aroma threw me off. I couldn't figure out what was in it--sour, fruity, spicy? Slightly tart flavor, maybe a little lemony. Overall, not a bad beer--have to appreciate the experimentation with different ingredients.
